• For all bookings made within 30 days of travel
• Full payment Is required within 48 hours of your booking. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).

• A 50% deposit Is required within 48 hours of your booking and the balance 30 days prior to arrival. This payment can be made via bank transfer or credit card (Master/Visa).

Cancellation Policy

• Only written cancellations are accepted
• If a booking is cancelled after confirmation, a 25% cancellation fee will apply.
• 60-days to 31 days prior to arrival - 50% of total reservation value
• 30-days to date of arrival -100% = total reservation value
• A 10% admin fee will be retained for cancellations made after the card has been charged.

Our curio shop is situated at the entrance of the lodge and is one of the first lodge features one will notice on arrival when walking through to the reception and entrance hall.
Once you are comfortable and have more or less settled into your new home we encourage you to have a good look around and discover some delightful items created by skilled craftsmen, traditional ornaments or handcrafted jewellery as well as useful safari gear.
Unique items of memorabilia are also on sale carrying the Tau Game lodge logo as a reminder of your African safari; making the bush memories linger long after your return back home.

Shuttle Flights /  Air Transfer (from R4 670 one-way)
The most convenient mode of travel to Madikwe Game Reserve from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport is by making use of a shuttle flight. These shuttle flights are being provided by Federal Airlines and can seat up to 10 or 12 people. Their premier shuttle service flies daily from OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) which takes about 1 hour. All of the Shuttle Services from Johannesburg and other destinations can be booked through us.

Charter Flights (rates on request)
The ultimate option for getting to Madikwe game reserve has to be chartered flights. Flights are moulded to each individual’s needs and requirements, which include private flights to luxury game lodges in the bush or at the coast, incentivized trips for large groups of guests, and flights for corporate executives for whom time is of the essence, and where confidentiality can be guaranteed. Large corporate groups can even be accommodated with flights in a Boeing if needed.

Each flight is tailored exclusively, taking into account all passenger comforts including – to name but a few – the type of aircraft being used, catering requirements with consideration given to dietary needs, specific liquid refreshments, cuddly blankets for those cold winter days and pillows for the long distance traveler. Not to forget that Federal Airlines has the highest guest liability insurance in South Africa, providing their guests the ultimate peace of mind.

Situated at Johannesburg International Airport, Federal Airlines’ friendly staff are there to provide:

It is approximately 4- 5 hour’s drive from Johannesburg International Airport. The adventure starts right away whether you rent a car, make use of a private ground transfer, or decide to fly in. The time it takes to drive to each specific lodge will vary. Kindly, ask your consultant for these directions if you have not already received them.

Driving times
Madikwe Game Reserve is centrally located to various other cities –

Driving inside the reserve
Guests are allowed to drive to the designated lodge only.  There may be speed traps along the route to the reserve, so please adhere to speed limits. Please drive no more than 40km/hour within the reserve.
If guests are staying in two lodges during their holiday they may also drive themselves to the other lodge during day light hours. Guests must let reception know so that they can radio to the other lodge to advise them that the guests are en-route to check- in.

Tau's Convention Centre

The main hall of this South African conference venue (270m2 in total) is made up of three sub-halls, each of which can operate independently or together via a touch-screen control system. (11m x 7.6 m each)

High quality, strategically placed equipment has been installed in the 3 sub-halls and all systems have been integrated and configured to maximize performance and enhance aesthetic qualities.

Conference Facilities Tau  Game Lodge
Custom designed floor panels have been installed into all 3 sub-halls with connections for computers and other electronic equipment. Standard equipment includes:

The system allows other equipment to be linked to it for specialist conferencing.

The convention centre has its own facilities and is equipped with

These are all easily accessible in the main building of the convention centre as well as alongside the breakaway rooms.

Each of the 3 breakaway rooms are 5.5m x 4m in size and are able to accommodate 10 delegates comfortably.

Check in time is 14h00. Check out time is 10h00.

Health
TAU GAME LODGE is in a malaria free area so no prophylactics are required. The lodge has qualified first-aid staff members. In the case of medical emergency Paramedic Medical Emergency Service are available.

Children’s Policy
Families with children are welcome at TAU GAME LODGE. Children under the age of 2 years sharing with parents stay free. Children under the age of 6 years are not allowed to join the adults on the standard game drives, unless the party with the children have booked a private vehicle (At an additional charge).
A shorter kiddies safari of approximately an hour can alternatively be arranged and a children’s program is in place for their entertainment . Please discuss further policies relating to children directly with Tau Lodge Management.

Babysitting
An hourly fee will be charged.

Curio shop
The Curio shop carries items created by skilled craftsmen, traditional ornaments or handcrafted jewellery as well as useful safari gear.

Laundry
A laundry service is available at a nominal cost.

Room Amenities
Hairdryers, mosquito nets, Hostess tea/coffee trays, bar fridge and mini-safe. Air-conditioning and overhead fans.

Tipping and Gratuities
Tipping of Rangers, Mochundas and lodge staff is at the guests own discretion. A suggested amount can be advised by lodge management.

What to take
Comfortable light clothing – neutral colours recommended, walking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, sun block, insect repellent and bathing suits. A good bird book, binoculars and camera could come in handy. During winter, please pack warm jackets, gloves and beanies for the game drives.

Levies
North West Parks Board charges an entrance levy per person (subject to change), which we will collect on check-out on their behalf. A Government Bed levy is charged per person per night and is due for payment on check-out. A compulsory Rhino conservation Levy) is applicable to assist the Reserve in its anti-
poaching efforts.

THE CONVENTION CENTRE
The state-of the art convention centre, which is situated at walking distance from the lodge can seat up to 150 delegates.

High quality equipment has been installed in the 3 sub-halls and all systems have been integrated and configured to maximise performance. The centre offers specialist equipment designed with simple plug in and play options for all presentation needs.

Each of the 3 breakaway rooms are 5.5m x 4m in size and are able to accommodate 10 delegates comfortably.

Gate times
The gates of the reserve are open from 06h00 to 18h00. Should you arrive later, you will need to be escorted from the gate to your lodge. There is a strict policy that the gates will be impassable after 21h00. This can be arranged with prior notice from your travel consultant if a guest thinks they will be late to check in.

There are 5 main gates to enter the reserve. Contact your consultant to find out which one will be closest to your luxury accommodation. There is an entrance fee at the lodge upon check-out of R 180.00 per person per stay and R 80.00 per child per stay. Guests may us their credit card or South African Rands when paying by cash.

• Guests connecting to and from our Madikwe Shuttle onto theLowveld Shuttle may be accommodated for same day travel. These flightsalso connect with the Tswalu air service.

 Baggage

 

 

 

 

• All passengers travelling on our Federal Airlines shuttleflights are entitled to one free piece of checked luggage and one smallcarry on item.
• Due to the nature of the environment in which we operate,our aircraft are smaller than a typical airliner. As a result of thiswe have small luggage holds which means that we have weight and sizelimitations. The Federal Airlines luggage specifications are as follows:
•   SOFT (all-sides) luggage/duffel bags with ONEflat side will be allowed. We offer soft sided bags which can bepurchased at our lounge at an additional cost.
•   Maximum luggage weight (includingphotographic/filming equipment) is 20kg/44lbs (in the hold); maximumluggage size per piece is 40cm (16 inches) wide x 30cm (12 inches) highx 60cm (24 inches) long.
•   Maximum hand luggage is 5kg/11lbs (1 soft pieceallowed with ONE flat side only)
• Should your luggage exceed the above limitations, we willNOT BE ABLE to load it. We do provide a COMPLIMENTARY LUGGAGE STORINGFACILITY (provided guests are booked on a return Johannesburg basis).Excess luggage remains the responsibility of the
• affected passenger at all times.
• Oversized luggage CANNOT be carried on your lap. Yoursafety is our first priority and unsecured objects inside the cabin arehazardous.
• At times, due to an aircraft constraints, excess luggagecan be an operational problem.
• Therefore any excess luggage over 20kgs needs to bepre-booked and pre-advised. We might not always be able to assistshould excess luggage not have been pre-booked.
• For less than 10kg extra luggage, there will be an R800surcharge and carriage is subject to aircraft operational weight andbalance restrictions. Should the guest require between 10kg and 20kg ofextra baggage the surcharge is R1500, for more than 20kg we would allocate a freight seat for R2,000 (up to max of 40kg). Forflight safety and operational reasons, all additional freightallowances are subject to weight and balance constraints.
• We cannot guarantee acceptance or carriage.

Tau Game Lodge, situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, has hosted various never-to-be-forgotten weddings.

A Safari Wedding Destination

The Lodge can host and accommodate smaller, intimate wedding parties of up to 60 people. Taking over the entire Lodge for a wedding has definite advantages, in that the whole day can be designed to suit the couple's needs and guests don't have to drive home afterwards.
